Under The Oaks
Seven Songs of the California Oak Woodland
These original Native American style flute compositions, written,
performed and produced by Jon Sherman, are a celebration of seven bird
species found within the natural community of the oak woodlands of
California. Though this habitat, in terms of bird richness, is among
the most important in North America, it is also one of most threatened.
May these songs, which include the authentic vocalizations of Red
Tailed Hawk, Acorn Woodpecker, American Robin, Anna's Hummmingbird,
Bewick's Wren, Canyon Wren and Hermit Thrush, inspire communion with
the oak woodland community and its circle of life, represented by the
stone circle in the beautiful cover art by Fealing Lin. May
they also inspire the peace and healing that time spent under the oaks
can bring.
On the path toward sustainable human culture,
this CD was recorded and mixed with solar power!
Reviews:
"A one-of-a kind CD that will be appreciated by anyone who has ever
hiked through an oak woodland or contemplated nature while sitting
under a giant oak."

"Listening to this musical connection between
nature and man, one is immediately transported to a calmness - similar
to what you would feel when relaxing under an oak tree, listening to
the chatter of the birds, and the rustling of the leaves. Jon Sherman
is a master when it comes to capturing the essence of nature and
sharing it's beauty."
